Retirement for longest serving employee Eric
After an impressive 52 years of service, Eric Lloyd, our longest-serving employee, retired at the end of February. Eric’s long tenure at Binder provides a unique perspective on the company’s growth, the evolution of the industry, and the daily operations that keep our treatment plant running smoothly.

Eric joined Binder over five decades ago, when the company was still finding its feet in the industry. Throughout his career, he’s witnessed first hand the company’s expansion and the development of its operations. Eric’s role as a Treatment Plant Operator allowed him to work on the front lines of our plant’s daily activities, providing valuable insight into the processes that keep the business running efficiently.
A Day in the Life of Eric
Eric’s work was centered around managing the tankers as they arrived at the plant for emptying, ensuring that everything ran effectively and safely. His role required both technical knowledge and an understanding of how the plant’s operations fit together as a whole. Every day was different, presenting new challenges that required practical solutions.
The Team Dynamic
When reflecting on his time at Binder, Eric mentioned that what he appreciated most was the team. As much as the work itself kept things interesting, it was the people around him that made the difference. Over the years, Eric built strong working relationships with his colleagues, many of whom have been with the company for a significant amount of time as well. This camaraderie helped keep the job enjoyable, even during more challenging times.
A Change of Pace
While work at the plant was a major focus of Eric’s career, outside of work, he found peace in simpler things, particularly gardening and spending time outdoors. These hobbies allowed him to balance the demands of his career with the need for downtime and personal enjoyment.
We wish Eric all the best as he transitions to the next chapter in his life, filled with more time for gardening, relaxation, and whatever else he chooses to explore. Thank you, Eric, for your many years of service. You’ve been a key part of our journey, and we’re grateful for all you’ve done.
